Why we do NOT do Mobile Grooming
Mobile grooming , done at your house , has become very popular in recent years.
Having been involved in this and learning a few very valuable lessons in the process , we have made a decision to NOT offer Mobile Grooming to our clients.
The reasons are numerous , but we feel the below , will give you the most important ones we found to be the most troubling.
Often these Mobile units operate with only staff (driver/groomer/washer) and no responsible person (business owner) to attend to the visit. These staff members are often ill suited for the job and appointed not on merit , but on salary. They have have very little vested interest in your pets and are often rough and impatient with the pets. Language and communication is often lacking and your requests might be misunderstood or interpreted.
Mobile grooming is tied to a very regimented schedule. The staff are often under severe pressure to complete the grooming and move on the next appointment. Taking time and being thorough is not a luxury afforded to them. Even the most talented groomers out there, will rush a job when the owner starts yelling and chasing them for time. The operators are driven by profit and slow, skipped, or missed appointments are not tolerated. This unfortunately impacts the quality of care and grooming your pet will receive.
The mobile operators prefer to be at arms-length. It is easy to deflect responsibility for anything that goes wrong or problems that arise, to the grooming team that visited you. They will hide behind not being there themselves and not knowing that something has happened. You will not feel like you are dealing with a person to whom your pets are important, only your money.
